Golden Jubilee Casay Credit Cooperative.

Fifty years ago in the Parish of Santa Teresa de Avila in Casay, Anini-y, Antique, the Mill Hill Missionaries founded the Casay Credit Cooperative. The mission of this cooperative since its foundation is to help the local people of Casay to manage their limited resources and be of help to those who are most in need of financial assistance. Since its foundation, this cooperative is part of the life story of its members. Today, this institution is one of the strongest credit cooperatives in the province of Antique. On our celebration today, the members of Casay Credit Cooperative paid tribute to the Mill Hill Missionaries who have continued to support this venture. Our beloved Bishop de Wit MHM † was mentioned in most of the speeches.

Grant Writing Workshop

The Mill Hill Missionaries in the Philippines together with MHM MEP students, Mensa Domini Sisters, and two priests from the Diocese of San Jose, Antique had a three day Grant Writing and Fundraising for Missionary Projects Workshop held at MHM Central House in Iloilo City. Fr. Jimmy Lindero, our GC-Asia, facilitated the workshop. He presented the suggested steps to be followed in writing grant project proposal and how to write one. He also introduced the participants on different possible project partners and funders and how to apply for grant to their organizations.

Basic Ecclesial Communities

In the desire to sustain the Basic Ecclesial Community program of the parishes in the Diocese of San Jose de Antique, the continuing formation of the BEC coordinators is being held quarterly. Every parish sends their Parish BEC Formation Team (PBFT) to this continuing formation and updating. Last July 02, 2016, the PBFT Southern Deanery, met at the Parish Sta. Teresa de Avila in Casay to discuss some points which may help them to sustain the BEC in the villages of their respective parishes. In this updating, they tried to look for ways on how Pope Francis’ Laudato Si be of guide in animating the village cells of the BEC in every parishes.

Parish of Sta Teresa, Casay, Philippines

The Parish of Sta. Teresa de Avila in Casay has remote mountain villages separated by seasonal rivers and high hills. During rainy season, like at this time of the year, this villages could only be reached through trekking and long hour walks. Last July 01, 2016, I, the village officials, and some villagers blessed the “farm to market” cement road in Casay and the hanging bridge in Sitio Iboc, Casay. These cemented foothpath and hanging bridge will help all of us here in Casay to reach faraway villages with lesser slipping on the mud!
