On Being a Priest in Contemporary Ireland

“Give your opinion about what a priest in Ireland needs to be at this time in our history.” I was asked to write an article on the above topic and as a result I found myself reflecting on what a long and expansive title it is. Do they not realise that I am not a theologian or scripture scholar or a philosopher or a writer but I am a simple missionary priest who is now living and working in Ireland?

Safeguarding Newsletter

This is first newsletter of our Child Safeguarding Office in the Irish Region. Its publication helps to acknowledge the tremendous work that has been put into making the safeguarding of children paramount by all members in the Irish Region. The Region and its members can be commended for all their efforts from the development and implementation of policies to promoting good practices in all their ministries. The work of Child Safeguarding continues in new ways to adapt the roots set down in ‘developing a more effective and accountable safeguarding environment’ where core principles evolved into seven standards in 2008. These Standards responded to the situation at that time and as Child Safeguarding moves forward these standards were revised in 2016 to facilitate our quest to maintain good practice.

Our Lady's Apron

In this publication, Fr.Christopher Fox mhm, an experienced director of retreats, shares some thoughts and reflections on prayer and the spiritual life. He feels that one of the greatest needs for all of us is to think deeply on the meaning of life and to free ourselves of so much mental and emotional rubbish that is throuwn at us from all sides. He writes clearly of the beauty of genuinbe religion and the teaching of Jesus and the power of Christian love.
