Tando Allah Yar, Sindh, Pakistan
Pope Francis recently met his representatives across the globe
in the Vatican for a 3-day meeting particularly scheduled during the Holy Year of Mercy. During the gathering, Pope Francis reminded his nuncios that they should continue serving in humility and that their secret code as link between the successor of Peter and the different local Churches must be mercy.
In his message, Pope Francis encouraged the nuncios to go out from their nunciature to build bridges and promote unity with the different communities and institutions. He urged them to meet people in their different situations so that they can listen and show their sincere love for the people.
Full of joy and enthusiasm about the invitation of Pope Francis, the Apostolic Nuncio to Pakistan, Archbishop Ghaleb Bader made a visit to Tando Allah Yar Parish where our Mill Hill missionaries are working among the Kutchi Kohli community.
Upon arrival in the morning, the Nuncio, accompanied by his Secretary Monsignor Joseph Maramreddy together with Bishop Samson Shukardin, Bishop of Hyderabad, and number of local clergy, were warmly and enthusiastically welcomed by parishioner in a traditional Kutchi Kohli ceremony.
During the short programme, the Nuncio greeted the crowd and offered a few words assuring them that they are not alone in their faith journey and the tough situations they are facing.
As Papal Envoy, he also emphasised the closeness and prayer of the Holy Father, Pope Francis, for everyone. Aware that his visit is not going to change their current situation directly , he assured them of his compassion and hope.
The Nuncio along with other guests later visited the hostel for girls and boys which is one of the apostolate priorities in Tando Allah Yar. After having lunch the Nuncio later went to visit one of the villages in the area to meet with the parish team, to listen, talk, share and pray with the people. From there he then travelled to Islamabad where the nunciature is situated.
