New Academic Year has started
The new formation year 2016 -17 began this month of June, 2016 on a good note. As the saying goes: “Well begun is half done”. We began this new year of 2nd Cycle formation in Pune with 18 students, out of which two deacons and four final year students will be soon leaving us at the end of July 2016. This year we have 10 new students for 1st year theology – six African students i.e. two Cameroonians, two Kenyans and two Ugandans and four Indian students.
No doubt a lot of hard work had gone into the preparation both from the side of 2nd Cycle in Pune and the respective 1st Cycle Formation Centres and the students themselves as well in coming together to Pune. On the whole, it is a real joy to come together to form a community that is multi-national and multi-cultural. There is so much beauty and diversity yet we are united in our common purpose and vision of the formation. Someone said that “Coming together is a beginning and being together is a process”. Yes, we as 2nd Cycle formation community hope to make this process a success in living out the Gospel values inspired by the vision of our founder cardinal Herbert Vaughan and the missionary charism of our Society amidst this multi-lingual, multi-cultural and multi-religious locality of Pune. The students have quickly acclimatized and adapted well to the weather, the food and the local customs. There has been a great mark of openness. On the other hand, a good orientation programme for the new students has really helped them to situate themselves. Indeed we have a good and promising group of students this year.
