Recently Fr Andrew Mukulu mhm, Councillor for Africa, returned to a familiar territory where he once served as a missionary some years ago. He visited many mission areas: Kroonstad, Vijeonsroon, Parys, Kopies, Vredefort, Heilbron, and Sasolburg. He met with people and celebrated Mass with them. People were surprised as he had a very good memory of Sesotho, the local language.
The Dutch Region of the Mill Hill Missionaries celebrated the 150th Anniversary of the Mill Hill Missionary Society (126 years in Holland) on 29th June, the Feast of Sts Peter and Paul.
At the occasion of the celebration in Oosterbeek, Holland, of the 150 years of existence of Mill Hill Missionary Society the first copy of a beautifully laid out Jubilee Book written for the occasion by retired professional journalist Paul de Schipper was presented to Fr Michael Corcoran, General Superior, by the author.
Quality and affordable Catholic education for Antiquenos is one of the many legacies of Mill Hill Missionaries in Antique, Philippines. To date, there are still few MHM founded schools operational under the supervision of the Antique Diocesan Catholic Schools. One of these schools is St. Therese High School in Casay, Anini-y. Though this school is under the full supervision of the diocese, Mill Hill is still providing its chaplaincy.
The new formation year 2016 -17 began this month of June, 2016 on a good note. As the saying goes: “Well begun is half done”. We began this new year of 2nd Cycle formation in Pune with 18 students, out of which two deacons and four final year students will be soon leaving us at the end of July 2016. This year we have 10 new students for 1st year theology – six African students i.e. two Cameroonians, two Kenyans and two Ugandans and four Indian students.
Every four years, ever since 1983, Fr Francis Baartmans mhm and the Benares Foundation organise an 'India Day'. The 8th edition of this event took place on June 18th in St Jozefhuis, Oosterbeek and brought together some 125 participants, most of whom have a personal connection through voluntary service with the work of Fr Francis among the Dalits in the Hindu Holy City of Varanasi, India, on the banks of the Ganges.
